General Election Day at ISGH Main Center on Sunday 10 December

06 December 2017 11:30 AM

Now that Early Balloting is done, we look forward to next Sunday (10 December 2017) when balloting may be done at the ISGH Main Center. Election Commission (EC) has been informed of many instances when voters' names were not found in the Eligible Voters List. Please realize that EC has no input and/or control in preparation of the Eligible Voter Lists. This list is the responsibility of ISGH and EC takes the list certified by ISGH officials and use it.

EC apologizes for inconvenience that some of ISGH members endured last Sunday due to above mentioned problems. Please note that EC had made many announcements and tried to disseminate information asking potential voters, before heading on to vote at Early Balloting, to check up on their names and voting status on this very same website. This simple act could have helped avoiding some problems.

In the previous announcements, EC had been making it clear that no deviation from the ISGH supplied Eligible Voters List will be allowed at Early Balloting and that all such issues will be handled on the General Election Day at ISGH Main Center. EC is working on coming with Rules/Guidelines and the Process to be used to accommodate those whose names are missing and/or there are issues with their Zone/Center/Zip assignments.

Please continue to visit this webpage to review such information to determine,  before coming to the Main Center on Sunday, whether there will be any remedy for your particular situation and what sort of a proof EC will need to rectify the errors in the Eligible Voters List so that you can cast your ballot. EC has been collating the details about problems experienced during Early Balloting and, based on our assessment and analysis, we hope to formulate plan of action in a couple of days. This information will then be posted on this webpage.

Attention, Please!

07 December 2017

Below please find an excerpt from an email that EC has received from a candidate:

"I have just been notified of the attached document that is being circulated in the masjid and at other locations as well.

Please see my email (below) that I have sent to the Shura.

I am very concerned that this will damage my candidacy and will further create confusion and distrust especially since I do not support these candidates."

Apparently, her name has been used without her permission and/or prior knowledge. EC requests all members to stay away from activities that while may be legal yet do strain our moral and ethical fiber. The referred to pamphlet/handout does not indicate who is the sponsor or publisher. Such anonymous handouts are troublesome. There is no legal restriction on supporting or promoting candidates participating in ISGH Elections. Thus there is no need to to promote a candidate or a group of candidates anonymously. I hope that we all continue to learn and better ourselves and participate in these and future elections with high spirits but never forgetting the highest standards of ethics and morality that our belief system demands of us.
